Dhanush starrer Tharuchitrambalam, which had released last year, had found great success at box-office. However, it had a limited release on OTT platform a few months later and was only available in its original language Tamil. However, Dhanush fans can now watch the charming romantic-comedy in as many as 5 languages.

Thiruchitrambalam marked first original collaboation between actor, director

Tharuchitrambalam had released on August 18, 2022. The heartwarming romantic-comedy directed by Mithran Jawahar is now streaming on Prime video, where it has released dubbed versions in Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi.

Besides Dhanush, the film stars Raashii Khanna and Nithya Menen. Veteran legend Bharathiraja also makes an appearance in the film. While Thiruchitrambalam marked the 4th collaboration between Dhanush and director Mithran Jawahar, this was the first time they were working on an original film - All their previous collaborations - Yaaradi Nee Mohini (2008), Kutty (2010), and Uthama Puthiran (2010) - were remakes of other films. 

 

Thiruchitrambalam received 5 SIIMA nominations

Thiruchitrambalam follows the story of a middle-class delivery boy named Pazham (Dhanush) and his many unsuccessful attempts to find love in life even as he struggles to reconcile with his estranged father (Bharathiraja). The only bright spot in Pazham’s life is the presence of his childhood buddy Shobana (Nithya Menen) who ofter jeers at his escapades but stays steady by his side nonetheless. 

Thiruchitrambalam had received a lot of acclaim for its slice-of-life treatment and its musical sequences, particularly the one where Dhanush and Nithya Menen dreamily sway at night on the empty streets of Chennai. Thiruchitrambalam emerged as a major box-office success, grossing over 100 crores worldwide. At the recently announced SIIMA awards, Thiruchitrambalam also received nominations for its lead actors Dhanush and Nithya Menen as well as Bharathiraja in the supporting actor category, besides bagging nominations in the best film and best director category.
