Dhruva Natchathiram director Gautham Vasudev Menon issues statement after film release postponement

Dhruva Natchathiram, the spy action thriller starring Chiyaan Vikram in the lead role, was all set to release on November 24. Considering the film had been in the making for over 6 years, fans of both Vikram and director Gautham Vasudev Menon were excitedly waiting for the film’s release. However, the makers of Dhruva Natchathiram were in a last-minute setback and Dhruva Natchathiram could not release on November 24 as scheduled earlier. Now director Gautham Vasudev Menon has issued an official statement about the same.

Menon penned in his note,  “A vision. Lot of passion. And unwavering dedication has got Dhruva Natchathiram from pen & paper to the film that it is today. Even when all else works against us, we hope that our passion & dedication will help us get the film out to you, in theatres worldwide, soon.”

The director went on to pen, “When we announced the release date as 24th of November, we tried moving mountains to make it happen. We would be lying if we said we're not disappointed with not being able to meet the date.”

Menon then assured his fans and film-goers that they have not given up on the film despite all the setbacks and are doing their best to get Dhruva Natchathiram a theatrical release at the earliest.

Menon also thanked his audience for being their ‘biggest cheerleaders,’ adding, “The unending love and support from you has been overwhelming & reassuring. Our hearts are full, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for being our pillar of strength.”

The director concluded his post on an optimistic, hopeful note, writing, “The film will soon see the light of the day and we can't wait to embark on this cinematic journey of John & Team Basement together with you.

Dhruva Natchathiram, which marks the 22nd feature film venture for Gautham Vasudev Menon, has been a long time in the making. Menon had first announced the film in 2013 with Jai Bhim actor Suriya before shelving the project. Menon restarted the project with Chiyaan Vikram only in 2017. However, the film faced several setbacks from a financial viewpoint throughout its course of production. Menon wrapped up the shoot only in February 2023, nearly 6 years after the film went on the floors. 

Besides Chiyaan Vikram, the film also stars prominent actors like Ritu Varma, Simran, R Parthiban, Radhika Sarathkumar and Vinayakan in key roles.
