Jana Nayagan Controversy: Thalapathy Vijay’s upcoming film is in fresh trouble after long, crucial scenes were leaked online and widely circulated. The Tamil feature, supposed to be Vijay's "final film", was to release on January 9 on Pongal. However, the censor board did not clear it, stalling its release indefinitely. The leak happened right before the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections on April 23, which Vijay will contest with his party TVK. Now, the makers have officially confirmed that they have taken legal action against those responsible. They have also warned viewers not to download or share the film through unauthorised sources.

The makers’ legal team has issued a notice after the film leaked online. In the notice, KVN Productions, the film’s producer, states that it is considering legal action. The notice also warned that anyone who shares or forwards the leaked clips through WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, websites, or torrents will commit a serious criminal offence and violate copyright laws.

Jana Nayagan producer G Dhananjheyan wrote on X, “Just spoke with Regional Censor Officer, Chennai and briefed him on this urgent matter. He is ready to support and request Information & Broadcasting Ministry at Delhi to remove all links and act against those posting the videos and links. Suggest @KvnProductions @lawyervijayan to immediately send an official mail of request to initiate action against pirated links immediately to the mail ID: rochen.cbfc@nic.in of Censor Board. The Producer must act fast and initiate criminal action against everyone downloading the links or posting the video”

South actor Sivakarthikeyan also tweeted on his X in relation to this controversy, “Every film is made with the passion, blood and sweat of hundreds of people - please avoid piracy. Kindly wait for the theatrical release and watch it in theatres. Whoever is responsible for this must face strict action. Respect the talents. Respect the hard work. Respect the industry. #JanaNayagan”

Meanwhile, a prison sequence showing Vijay in a fight with other inmates was among the scenes leaked from the movie. A 90-second portion of the Thalapathy Kacheri song has also surfaced online. Mamitha Baiju's scenes have also been leaked. Netizens and fans of Vijay claimed that a political conspiracy was at play.

H Vinoth is the director of this social drama, and Vijay, Mamitha Baiju, Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol play the lead roles. Jana Nayagan is an adaptation of the Telugu hit Bhagavanth Kesari (2023), featuring Nandamuri Balakrishna, Sreeleela and Kajal Aggarwal.
