Jigarthanda DoubleX actor Sheela Rajkumar announces divorce from husband Thambi Chozhan

Actor and Bharatanatyam dancer Sheela Rajkumar recently took to her social media handle to announce the end of her marriage with Thambi Chozhan. The couple tied the knot in 2014 and shared their decision to part ways, leaving their fans shocked. Meanwhile, the reason for their divorce remains undisclosed.

Sheela Rajkumar announces separation from husband

Sheela Rajkumar, known for her performance in the acclaimed Malayalam film Kumbalangi Nights, announced the dissolution of her marriage through a heartfelt post. Despite maintaining privacy regarding the reasons behind their separation, the actress conveyed her gratitude and love, directing her message to her husband, Chozhan, who is known for running an acting workshop.

She wrote (as per English translation), "I leave the marriage relationship. Thanks and Love."

A look back at Sheela Rajkumar and Thambi Chozhan's relationship

The couple's love story blossomed during Sheela's involvement in a short film directed by Chozhan. Despite familial objections, they got married in 2014. In a 2019 interview with Film Companion, Sheela Rajkumar recalled her first meeting with Thambi Chozhan and said, "Somewhere in 2013 or 2014, I got the chance to star in a telefilm directed by Thambi Chozhan. It was never released, but I found my life partner in Chozhan, an acting coach."

The actor also mentioned that her marriage never came in the way of her career. In the above-mentioned interview, she said, "I’m proud of what marriage did for me. And, I believe there is a time for everything in life. Seeing me, if someone is encouraged to enter the industry after marriage, I’ll be very happy. Imagine if Chezian sir had wondered if he should cast me because I am married, I would not have been part of To Let. Sometimes, you have to chase your dream."

Meanwhile, Sheela's foray into the film industry commenced in 2016 with Aarathu Sinam. However, it was her pivotal role as Sathi in Kumbalangi Nights that propelled her into the limelight. Apart from that, she worked in films such as To Let, Mandela, Pichaikaran 2, Jothi, and Noodles. Sheela also appeared in the recently released film Jigarthanda Double X, directed by Karthik Subbaraj.
