Kannagi delves into the lives of four women
The trailer hints at Kannagi being a social thriller that delves into the lives of four women from different walks of life. “Women are the only oppressed group in our society that lives in intimate association with their oppressors,” this Evelyn Cunningham quote appears in the middle of the trailer and it seems like the film drew inspiration from it.

The film aims to address the struggles and complexities faced by women in society, with each character navigating unique challenges. Ammu Abhirami portrays the role of a young woman forced into the conventional path of arranged marriage. Her character experiences a transformative journey that disrupts societal expectations. Keerthi Pandian takes on the challenging role of a young woman grappling with the decision to undergo an illegal abortion after completing 20 weeks of pregnancy.\
As a character opting for a live-in relationship over traditional matrimony, Shalin Zoya's role explores the complexities of societal judgment and partner expectations. Vidhya Pradeep, on the other hand, portrays a young wife fighting against the injustice of forced divorce.
