Raayan OTT Release: When And Where To Watch Dhanush Starrer

Raayan starring Dhanush has been enjoying its run at the box office. In the third week of the release, the movie surpassed Rs 150 crore, becoming one of the highest-grossing Tamil movies in 2024. However, now the makers have locked the OTT release date, concluding its theatrical journey.

When and where will Raayan release on OTT?

The gangster drama, which released in theatres on July 26, is all set to make its debut on Prime Video. The movie will release on August 23 in five regional languages - Tamil, Hindi Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. "Raayan has a PURPOSE to fulfill and JUSTICE to seek. #RaayanOnPrime, Aug 23," read the caption.

What is the plot of Raayan?

The movie marked the second directorial of Dhanush. Apart from him, the movie also starred S. J. Suryah, Selvaraghavan, Kalidas Jayaram, Sundeep Kishan and Prakash Raj, in supporting roles. The film follows Kathavaraayan Raayan, a fast-food hotel owner in North Chennai, who begins to protect his family when they inadvertently get muddled in a war between two rival gangs. It grossed ₹23.75 crore worldwide on its opening day, which was the second-highest first-day gross for a Tamil film, with over ₹16 crore from India. The film surpassed Karnan (2021), giving Dhanush the biggest opening of his career.

What's next for Dhanush?

The actor is now busy with the shooting of his next movie Kubera, co-starring Nagarjuna and Rashmika Mandanna. Helmed by Sekhar Kammula, the film is reportedly set in Dharavi in Mumbai. Dhanush will reportedly play the role of a beggar, who turns into a mafia lord, while Nagarjuna might play the character of an investigating officer.  Kubera has been bankrolled by Suniel Narang with the music being composed by Devi Sri Prasad. It is expected to hit the theatres this year.
