Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Leo is one of the most-awaited Indian movies this year. While Kanagaraj also promises to expand his cinematic universe with this actioner, promising to show Thalapathy Vijay in a raw and violent avatar, Leo has also generated a lot of curiosity because it marks the return of the onscreen pairing of Thalapathy Vijay and Trishna Krishnan after 15 years.

Thalapathy Vijay makes his debut at 18
Thalapathy Vijay and Trishna Krishnan made for one of the most successful onscreen pairs in Tamil cinema in the mid-2000s. They worked together in 4 hit films back-to-back from 2004 to 2008.

Although Vijay began his journey as a lead hero in 1992 and immediately tasted box-office success. The Bigil actor truly hit his peak in the early 2000s. It was around the same time when Trisha Krishnan entered the Tamil film industry and made her mark with films like Enakku 20 Unakku 18 and Mounam Pesiyadhe.
Ghilli becomes first Tamil film to cross ₹50 crore mark
Their first film together was in 2004. Ghilli was a massive box office success and the first film to cross the ₹50 crore mark in Tamil Cinema. The pair was also famous for their song sequences and the chemistry they brought to the table. In particular, their song Appadi Podu acquired a cult status all across the country, and Vijay-Trisha’s energetic dance moves only added to the song’s vigour and appeal.

Vijay and Trisha went on to work in 3 more films - Aathi, Thirupachi, and Kuruvi out of which 2 were moderate box office hits. Their last film together was the 2008 release Kuruvi, which was an average fare at the box office.
