2 things you need to know

'The medium cannot define me'

In an interview with Pinkvilla, Dheeraj Dhoopar said the distinction between TV and film actors in terms of casting is something that he has encountered several times. He said this line between mediums should not define an actor's abilities or potential. Rejecting the idea that an actor should be confined to one medium, he stated, "The medium cannot define me. Nobody should define the actor by the medium." He shared instances where he was told by casting directors that he was a "TV face," and therefore, certain roles may not be justified for him.

"Frankly, I have been told many times by the casting director that you are a tv face, you’re too exposed, you’re a big name on TV, we need to justify everything, but no, we’re actors. The medium cannot define me. Nobody should define the actor by the medium," he said.

Dheeraj Dhoopar wants to explore diverse opportunities

Reflecting on his aspirations and career goals, Dheeraj Dhoopar said he is ready to embrace all forms of storytelling. He narrated his interaction with a well-known producer who explained to him that transitioning from TV to film requires roles that match the actor's stature and audience recognition.

The Kundali Bhagya actor expressed his desire to explore diverse opportunities, be it television, films, OTT platforms, or commercials. "I’m just an actor. I do understand one thing when we go to the market, people call us by character’s name, does that mean I’m too exposed as a character, but not as an actor. I want to be part of all the mediums, from doing TV commercials, OTT, TV, films, I do not want to leave any medium," he said.
