Karan Patel says TV stars are bigger than film actors, calls their mentality 'blocked'

Karan Patel gained immense popularity with the show Yeh Hai Mohabbatein. He played the lead role on the show for six years and became a household name since then. The actor will soon be seen on the big screen in the film Darran Choo. Ahead of the film’s release, he has made explosive remarks about the film fraternity’s perception of television actors.

Karan Patel talks about the ‘blocked mentality’ of film fraternity that needs to be changed

Ahead of the release of his film Darran Choo, actor Karan Patel told DNA about the mentality of industry bigwigs regarding television actors. He called the mentality a setback and mentioned, “This notion of 'Oh he's a TV star, won't work on the big screen', is a setback and this blocked mentality of the film fraternity should probably change. It's hurtful.” Karan added that television actors are bigger stars than other actors.

The actor, in an explosive statement said, “If he's the face of television, who's been running one of the top shows for the past six years, then he's more sellable and popular than your movie star. They are bigger stars than your actors.”

Further making claims about the film fraternity, the actor claimed that people in Bollywood prefer to work with the same people over and over again. He put blame on ‘groupism’ in the industry. He said, “I think everybody favours their people, agar groupism nahi hoga, aur agar industry bahut honest ho gayi toh aadhe actors ki dukaan bandh ho jayegi (If groupism will not exist, then half of the actors will go out of work). However, things are getting better, the scenario has started to change, the audience has become more intelligent, and content-driven cinema is working.
