What do we know about Chatrapathi film?
Rajamouli's father, Vijayendra Prasad, wrote the story for Chatrapathi, and popular producer AM Ratnam wrote the dialogues. Chatrapathi follows Sivaji (Prabhas) and Ashok (Shafi) through their lives. Sivaji is Parvati's (Bhanupriya's) stepson, but Ashok is her biological son. Sivaji and his family are uprooted from their Sri Lankan community and end up working as bonded labourers in Vishakhapatnam. He, like his legendary namesake, rises to become the oppressed's saviour.
In an interview with Idlebrain.com, Rajamouli described Chatrapathi as a "mother sentiment film" that also deals with the exploitation of immigrants who come to India from other countries and live without any official identity. While Prabhas played the lead role in the film, Shriya Saran played the female lead in Chatrapathi. Meanwhile, the music of the film was composed by MM Keeravani.
