Sunday is here and so is our list of movies releasing in theatres this week. August 23 has no Hindi releases owing to Stree 2, Vedaa and Khel Khel Mein, but theatres have brought to you English, Tamil and Malayalam movies to entertain you all. From Alien Romulus to Footage, the list will pique your interest.

Alien: Romulus

A science fiction horror serves as the seventh installment in the Alien franchise and is a standalone story set between the events of Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986).  The film stars Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu. It follows a group of young space colonists who, while scavenging a derelict space station, come face to face with a Xenomorph. The movie is slated to hit the theatres on August 23.

Blink Twice

It is a psychological thriller film directed by Zoë Kravitz. The film stars Naomi Ackie, Channing Tatum, Christian Slater and Simon Rex. The story follows a cocktail waitress who becomes infatuated with a billionaire tech mogul and travels with him to his private island for a luxurious party. However, things begin to go wrong after her friend vanishes. The movie is set to hit the theatres on August 23.

The Crow

It is a gothic superhero film in which Eric/ The Crow, a murdered musician is resurrected to avenge the deaths of himself and his fiancée (played by FKA Twigs). Starring Bill Skarsgård, it is the fifth film in the franchise, and the second film, after the 1994 film, to directly adapt the 1989 comic book series of the same name by James O'Barr. The movie will release on August 23.

The Forge

The movie serves as a spin-off to War Room, it is the Kendrick brothers' ninth film and the sixth through their subsidiary, Kendrick Brothers Productions. The movie stars Cameron Arnett, Priscilla Shirer and Aspen Kennedy. It tells the story of Isaiah Wright, a 19-year-old who lives for basketball and video games. A year out of high school, he still has no job and no plans for his future. However, one fine day he receives a push to start making better life decisions. The movie will release on August 23.

Amigo

A seemingly ordinary video call between a group of close media professional friends takes a horrifying turn when a stranger infiltrates their session. This mysterious figure holds a dark secret about them, plunging the group into a high-stakes game with deadly consequences. The Tamil drama will release in theatres on August 23.

Footage

Directed by Saiju Sreedharan, the movie stars Manju Warrier, Gayathri Ashok, and Vishak Nair. The film is a found-footage film, a format presenting the narrative through video recordings created by the characters themselves. The Malayam thriller will hit the theatres on August 23.
