39 terrorists arrested by UP ATS in 5 years, 2nd highest after Jammu & Kashmir

Ahmad Raza, a resident of Moradabad, was arrested by UP ATS field unit of Saharanpur on Thursday. The arrest was made after monitoring his online activities for few months. Suspected terrorist Ahmad Raza was in touch with Hizbul commanders and its Pakistan and Afghanistan handlers. His phone gallery had pictures of terror training modules, arms and ammunition making training, screenshots of chats with Pakistan handlers, and Jihadi videos. The suspect was planning to recruit youngsters in Moradabad and Deoband area. With that motive, he had returned from Srinagar and Anantnag after getting trained there.
In July this year, several terrorists linked with ISIS, Al-Qaeda, and Hizbul Mujahiddin have been arrested from Jammu & Kashmir and Uttar Pradesh -

According to the sources, the details about Ahmad Raza and other members linked with terror outfit Hizbul Mujahiddin was revealed by ISIS agent Mohammad Armaan who was arrested from Maharashtra. Armaan, during interrogation, informed the name of more members of his outfit and told that the terrorist outfits are building ahtred against the UCC, sources said. It further said that Mohammad Armaan also revealed that a big terror opperation was being planned since February.
According to ATS, in July, four terrorists have been arrested by UP ATS. The Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) observed a common pattern among these arrested terrorists - they vompletely brainwashed by Jihadi videos and ideology. Many violent videos from different parts of the country were shared with them during training. The Anti Terrorist Squad officials also said that it takes a few months for the terror handlers to imbide the hatred into the target youth as they train them to become terrorists.
Speaking on the arrest by UP ATS, Prashant Kumar, DG Law and Order, said, "ATS is continuously taking action against both online and offline perpetrators who are trying to disrupt the peace. Ahmad Raza had done full preparation to carry out terror activities but before he could execute it, the ATS team nabbed him. We are monitoring such suspected handlers very closely."
