Air India, IndiGo Cancels Flights to and from Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Bhuj, Jamnagar and Rajkot

New Delhi: Major Indian airlines, including Air India, IndiGo, SpiceJet, and Akasa Air, have cancelled flights to and from several airports across North India until May 10, following Operation Sindoor, a coordinated military strike by Indian armed forces targeting nine locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The operation was launched in the early hours of May 7 in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives.

Air India Cancels Flights to Nine Airports

Air India announced the suspension of operations at multiple airports, including Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot, until 0529 hrs IST on May 10, following a directive from aviation authorities regarding temporary airport closures.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the airline said, “Air India flights to and from the following stations... are being cancelled till 0529 hrs IST on 10 May following a notification from aviation authorities on the closure of these airports.”

Air India also confirmed that passengers holding valid tickets during this period will be provided a one-time waiver on rescheduling charges or a full refund.

IndiGo Suspends Operations at 11 Airports

IndiGo Airlines has also cancelled flights to and from 11 airports in compliance with official directives. The affected airports include Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Leh, Chandigarh, Dharamshala, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Gwalior, Kishangarh, and Rajkot.

On X, IndiGo posted, “In line with directives from aviation authorities regarding airport closures, we're in the process of cancelling all flights... until 0529 hrs on 10th May.”

Earlier updates had indicated that cancellations were in effect until noon on May 7, with two international flights via Amritsar diverted to Delhi.

SpiceJet Cancels Flights at Six Airports for May 7

SpiceJet has also joined the list of airlines responding to the evolving situation. Flights to and from Leh, Srinagar, Jammu, Kangra, Kandla, and Amritsar were cancelled on May 7.

The airline assured affected passengers that they could opt for a full refund or choose an alternate flight, subject to availability.

SpiceJet wrote on X, “Due to the ongoing situation, our flights... are cancelled for 7th May ’25.”

Akasa Air Suspends Operations to Srinagar

Akasa Air confirmed that it has cancelled flights to and from Srinagar, citing the closure of the airport for civil operations.

In its official statement, the airline said, “Due to the prevailing situation in the region, Srinagar airport has been closed for civil operations. As a result, our flights... have been cancelled.”
