'Be Careful India. Be on Guard': US Consul General's Visit To Owaisi's House Sparks Controversy

New Delhi: A major controversy erupted over US Consul General Jennifer Larson's visit to AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi's house in Hyderabad, with Indian netizens alleging, "America is meddling in Indian politics."

Jennifer in a post on X on Monday this week expressed gratitude to the AIMIM Chief for his hospitality and for sharing "informed and important views on a range of shared issues and concerns."

"Thank you, Member of Parliament and leader of AlMIM @asadowaisi for your kind hospitality and for sharing your informed and important views on a range of shared issues and concerns. I look forward to continuing our discussions! #USIndiaFWD," the post read. The two leaders can be seen smiling for the camera in the picture.

However, the Indian netizens grew suspicious over the meeting between the US Consul General and the Hyderabad MP. It is to be noted that this marks the second visit by Jennifer to Owaisi's house. In April last year, she attended an iftar party hosted by him.

"America is meddling in Indian politics," a user alleged.

Meanwhile, another said, "Some new sinister plan… NIA should keep track of these foreigners, especially the diplomatic corps."

Furthermore, expressing fear of a Bangladesh-like coup situation in India, a user said, "Great. 1 Information shared. 2 Shared issues. 3 Shared concerns. Will this suffice for a Bangladesh-style coup in India?!! If not, his counterpart Dawood is in Karachi—please meet him too. But please don’t delay the coup in India."

Another user warned about the Consuls and blamed the United States for the ouster of Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee in West Bengal.

"Be careful of these Consul Generals from this rogue country, the United States of America, in different capital cities of ours. One such US Consul General, along with the German Consul, was responsible for overthrowing the CPIM & Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee in West Bengal and installing the 'mess' we have today," he wrote.

"Today, if you look back at the anarchy and bloodlust that was unleashed in WB to discredit Buddha Babu and instigate people to vote for the Mess, you will see all the parallels with what this rogue state is doing to overthrow the Modi government. They set WB back by 20 years with no industrialization. Similarly, they want to destroy the fabric of society and the economy to make India a vassal state of the US," the post read further.

Who is Consul General Jennifer Larson?

Jeniffer is the US Consul General in Hyderabad, India. She previously served as the Director and acting DAS of the office of India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Maldives Affairs. She has also served in Pakistan, France, Sudan, Jerusalem and Lebanon.

She previously served four years as the Deputy Principal Officer in Mumbai, India.

In 20-16, Jennifer was the spokesperson at the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs. Ms. Larson served as the Principal Officer in Benghazi, Libya, and then as Acting Deputy Chief of Mission in Tripoli.
