Amid the festive fervour of Raksha Bandhan across the country, a man in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhind district is all braced up to get his name registered in the Guinness Book of World Records for crafting a Rakhi, likely to be measured as the biggest Rakhi in the world. The man named Ashok Bhardwaj on Wednesday completed crafting the Rakhi and is now excited for Thursday, when officials will come for an inspection. Bhardwaj, who is also a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, was working on this project at his Bhind’s farmhouse for the last couple of weeks.
As per reports, after deciding to craft into the Guinness Book of World Records this year, he went on to check the present record and dimensions of the biggest Rakhi. After analysing the facts about the existing record, he went ahead with the project. According to the BJP leader, he was encouraged by the party workers and his supporters.

During the process of crafting the Rakhi, Ashok Bhardwaj was assisted by over 10 craftsmen provided by an agency. He stated that an agency to complete the entire task was hired. The Rakhi was crafted using fabric, wood, cardboard, thermocol sheets, and other decorating materials. It is being said that the diameter of the Rakhi was kept around 25 feet. Expert artisans diligently worked on each section of the Rakhi. From fabrication to colouring and putting decorative materials, each aspect was worked on and completed.

Apart from the Guinness Book of World Records, the BJP leader is also sure that his craft will get potentially recognised by the Limca Book of Records, the World Book of Records, the Asia Book of Records, and the India Book of Records.
