An Akasa Air flight enroute Mumbai made an emergency landing at Raja Bhoj Airport in Bhopal after a passenger faced a serious health issue and is now critical.

Bhopal: An Akasa Air flight, flying from Varanasi to Mumbai made an emergency landing in Bhopal after a passenger fell sick.

The passenger is in the hospital and the flight is expected to continue with its journey at 5 pm.

Akasa Air Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Bhopal

A Varanasi-Mumbai flight of Akasa Air with 172 passengers on board on Thursday made an emergency landing at the Raja Bhoj Airport here after a passenger fell sick, an official said.

The pilot contacted the Air Traffic Control and made emergency landing at 11.40 am after a passenger faced a serious health issue, airport director Ramji Awasthi told PTI.

Passenger Critical, Flight To Resume Journey at 5 PM

The passenger, who was in critical condition, was rushed to hospital.

The flight is expected to resume its journey at 5 pm after completing necessary formalities, Awasthi said.

‘Priority Landing’ of Mumbai-Bound Vistara Flight

In a related news, a Mumbai-bound Vistara flight on Wednesday made a priority landing due to a “minor” technical issue, the airline said. The aircraft landed safely and is currently undergoing inspection, it added.

"Shortly before landing, a minor technical snag was detected on Vistara flight UK 995 that was operating from Delhi to Mumbai on 14 August 2024," a Vistara spokesperson said in a statement.

Air India Flight Returns to Mumbai After Technical Glitch

A London-bound Air India flight AI129 from Mumbai returned to Mumbai on Wednesday due to a technical issue. The aircraft underwent precautionary checks upon landing at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA). The airline arranged alternative flights to ensure passengers reached their destination, the spokesperson said, and also offered full refunds for canceled tickets.

"Air India flight AI129 operating from Mumbai to London made an air return to Mumbai due to a technical issue. The aircraft landed safely at Mumbai for precautionary checks. We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused to our guests due to this unexpected disruption," an Air India spokesperson said.
