New Delhi: The Goa Police have arrested the manager of Birch by Romeo Lane in connection with the deadly nightclub fire that claimed the lives of 25 people and injured six.

Speaking to ANI, the Goa CM confirmed that the club's managers and others have already been arrested in the case, and an arrest warrant has been issued against the club's owners, while reportedly they are still absconding.

“An arrest warrant has been issued against the club owners. Managers and others have already been arrested. Whoever is found guilty will be put behind bars. PM Modi called me up this morning and asked for all details. He also asked for details on the injured. I briefed the PM in detail...Goa government will take all steps to ensure that such an incident never happens in the future,” he said.

Further, he said, "This is an unfortunate day. For the first time in Goa's tourism history, such a large fire incident has occurred. 25 people died. I reached the spot at 1.30-2 am, local MLA Michael Lobo accompanied me. All officers were also present there. Fire was doused within half an hour, but at the club where this happened, some people could rush out of it, but some others could not."

What Led to the incident?

The late-night celebration turned into a tragedy after a fire broke out shortly on Saturday night at the popular Birch by Romeo Lane club in the Baga area of Arpora. While initial reports indicated a suspected cylinder blast, fresh local media reports now suggest the blaze may have been triggered by an electric pyro gun used inside the club during the event. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said he is reviewing the situation closely and has ordered a magisterial inquiry. He stressed that those responsible will face strict action and that any negligence will be dealt with firmly.

Sawant, who visited the site, said the inquiry will determine the exact cause of the fire and whether fire safety norms and building regulations were followed. He added that the injured are in stable condition and receiving the best medical care.

Goa Police said the victims include four tourists and 14 staff members. The identities of seven other victims are yet to be confirmed. Among the injured, one person has suffered more than 60 per cent burns, while the remaining patients are stable.

Goa Government Issues Emergency Helplines

Following the incident, the Goa government on Sunday issued emergency helpline numbers to assist families, tourists and residents following the massive fire that killed 25 people at a nightclub in North Goa's Arpora. The state administration, led by the Office of the Collector, North Goa, said these lines would ensure faster coordination, timely response and clear channels of communication for those seeking information or support.
