Punjabi singer Singha booked for allegedly promoting gun culture in his song 'Still Alive'
Bhim Rao Yuva Force has lodged a complaint against the singer-rapper and four others involved in the song’s production.
An FIR has been lodged against Punjabi singer-rapper Manpreet Singh Sangha, popularly known as Singha, for allegedly promoting obscenity and gun culture in his song ‘Still Alive’. A complaint in this regard has been lodged by Bhim Rao Yuva Force. Based on the complaint, Kapurthala police have booked Manpreet and four others under sections 294 (singing obscene song) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code.
‘Still Alive’ is spreading negative impact among the youth of Punjab: Complainant
Bhim Rao Yuva Force president Amandeep Sahota has filed the complaint in this matter, alleging that the song glorifies gun culture in Punjab. Sahota in his complaint mentioned, “The song ‘Still Alive’ is spreading a negative impact among the youth of Punjab,” adding that the song contains obscene content.
Sahota has filed the complaint against the team behind the song. Apart from Manpreet, the others booked in the case include Big Kay Singh, Amandeep Singh, Virun Verma (DOP) and Jatin Arora (editing).
Commenting on the case, superintendent of police (SSP), Kapurthala, Rajpal Singh Sandhu, said, “Police have received a complaint regarding the promotion of gun culture, and the complainant has also provided the video clip of the song as evidence.”
It is pertinent to note here that since the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) came into power in Punjab, the state government has taken a strong stand against those glorifying gun culture in Punjab. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has directed the police to take action against people promoting gun culture through social media or any other source.
