Cyclones are strong natural disasters that need us to be ready and careful. Right now, Cyclone Michaung is getting stronger in the Bay of Bengal. People in Chennai and nearby places are getting ready for the storm. They're following the latest news about Cyclone Michaung and taking steps to stay safe and reduce damage. As the weather gets really wild more often, it's super important to learn what to do and what not to do to stay safe by the time of cyclone

Do's During a Cyclone

1.Stay Informed: Keep yourself updated with the latest weather forecasts and alerts. Pay attention to official communication channels, such as local news, meteorological services, and government announcements.

2.Evacuate if Instructed: If authorities advise evacuation, follow their instructions promptly. Your safety is the top priority, and evacuating to designated shelters can save lives.

3.Secure Your Home: Make windows stronger by putting up special covers called storm shutters or by using big, flat pieces of wood called plywood, and secure doors to prevent them from flying open during high winds. Move outdoor furniture and objects inside to minimize potential projectiles.

4.Create an Emergency Kit: Create an emergency kit containing essentials like food, water, medications, first aid supplies, flashlight, and important documents.

5.Stay Indoors: Find a strong building to stay safe, and make sure you stay away from windows. The eye of the cyclone may bring a temporary calm, but it is followed by a resurgence of strong winds and rain.

Don'ts During a Cyclone

1.Don't Ignore Evacuation Orders: Disregarding evacuation orders can put your life at risk. Trust the guidance of authorities who have access to the latest information and are working to keep you safe.

2.Avoid Unsafe Structures: Seek shelter in well-constructed buildings and stay away from temporary or poorly constructed structures. These are more susceptible to damage during a cyclone.

3.Don't Drive Through Flooded Areas: Flooding is a common aftermath of cyclones. Avoid driving or walking through flooded streets, as water levels can be deceptive, and strong currents can easily sweep you away.
