Delhi Traffic Police Issues Advisory for Independence Day. Check Details | Image: PTI

New Delhi: The Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory for commuters in view of the Independence Day. Citing security reasons, the traffic police said that restrictions will come at and around Red Fort on August 15, 2024. The advisory stated that restrictions will be imposed on the movement of interstate buses. 

Restrictions for Buses

Interstate buses will not be allowed between Maharana Pratap ISBT Kashmere Gate and Sarai Kale Khan ISBT on Ring road from 12:00 Midnight of 14.08.2024 to 11:00 AM on 15.08.2024.

  • All buses coming from Ghaziabad towards Delhi shall move via Bhopura Chungi Road from Mohan Nagar for Wazirabad Road and then towards Chandgi Ram Akhara U turn ISBT and enter ISBT. 
  • All Buses coming from Dhaulakuan shall be diverted on Ring Road for taking Punjabi Bagh - Azad Pur - Akhara Chandgi Ram - U turn ISBT and enter ISBT Kashmere Gate. 
  • All buses operating between ISBT and Faridabad (Badarpur) shall either terminate at Sarai Kale Khan or be diverted on Ring road via Dhaulakuan Punjabi Bagh - Azad Pur - Akhara Chandgi Ram U turn ISBT and enter ISBT. 
  • No bus shall be allowed to take 'U' turn at northern loop of Ring Road near Budh Vihar (Monastery) and would be diverted towards Wazirabad to go Trans Yamuna or take U turn from Chandgiram Akhara and take loop of ISBT Flyover to go towards Shastri Park and Buses bound for Dhaulakuan shall take Boulevard Road, Rani Jhansi Road, Link Road and upper Ridge Road (Vande Matram Marg). 
  • Buses bound for Loni Border shall proceed via Wazirabad Bridge and those bound for Ghaziabad shall proceed via ISBT Bridge.

The advisory stated that traffic diversion will also be in place in view of the event.

The advisory issued by the police for invitees stated that routes have been plannd for vehicles coming from different directions.

As per the advisory issued for the invitees, the vehicles having labels number 1 approaching from South side Delhi can take this route:

  • Rajghat Crossing -> Shanti Van Crossing -> Turn Left -> Nishad Raj Marg -> Turn Right -> Moat Road -> Turn Right -> Delhi Gate -> Hathi Gate -> Respective Parking

The vehicles having labels number 1 approaching from North side Delhi can take this route:

  • ISBT Kashmiri Gate -> Hanuman Setu -> Outer Ring Road -> Geeta Colony Flyover -> Shanti van Crossing -> Turn Left -> Nishad Raj Marg -> Turn Right -> Moat Road -> Turn Right · Delhi Gate -> Hathi Gate -> Respective Parking

Hot air balloons, Para-gliding banned 

Security has been beefed up in the national capital with a prohibition on flying sub conventional aerial platforms like Para-gliders, para-motors, hang gliders, UAVs, micro light aircrafts, remotely piloted aircrafts, hot air balloons, small size powered aircrafts, quadcopters or para jumping from aircraft etc over the jurisdiction of National Capital Territory of Delhi up to August 15.

Special instructions for public

Some special instructions have been given to general public to avid any untoward situation. Public is advised to refrain from bringing cameras, binoculars, Remote Control car keys, umbrella, handbags, briefcases, transistors, cigarette lighters, tiffin boxes, water bottles, lunch boxes etc at Raj Fort venue from where PM Narendra Modi will address the nation tomorrow.
