Telangana: Four members of a family lost their lives in Telangana's Vanapatla when the roof of their house collapsed on Monday morning. The tragic incident occurred in Nagarkurnool district after heavy rains had weakened the mud roof of the house.

According to Nagarkurnool SP Vaibhav Gaikwad, the family including husband, wife, and their three children, were residing in a house with a roof made out of old mud. The husband, Bhaskar, 28, escaped with injuries as he was sleeping outside on the porch. His wife, Padma, 26, and their three children, twins Pappi and Vasantha, aged 6, and a 10-month-old boy, were killed in the collapse.

“Preliminary enquiry revealed that the roof had sunk in a little by the night and the family had even planned to keep a support to hold it overnight. However, they ended up sleeping without the support and the roof collapsed on the wife and three kids at around 2:30 a.m.,” said the official.

The bodies were sent to the government hospital for an autopsy, and a statement was taken from the injured husband, who is currently receiving treatment, police said.

Vasant Vihar Wall Collapse

A similar incident was reported on June 27 in Delhi's Vasant Vihar when three labourers died after a wall of an under-construction plot collapsed due to rain on Thursday, police said. According to sources, the labourers were living in temporary huts near the construction site and the huts collapsed into the pit due to heavy rainfall.
