Thiruvananthapuram: A full emergency has been declared at Thiruvananthapuram Airport in Kerala following a bomb threat to an Air India flight arriving from Mumbai, as per airport sources. 

The flight, Air India 657, has been placed in an isolation bay, and passengers are being evacuated as a precaution, said airport sources. 

The Airport reported that the Thiruvananthapuram-bound Air India aircraft from Mumbai landed around 8 am.

The bomb threat was communicated by the pilot as the aircraft approached the Thiruvananthapuram airport, the sources said.  

Thereby, all 135 passengers on board were evacuated from the plane to ensure their safety. Meanwhile, authorities conduct a thorough inspection of the aircraft.  Airport operations are currently uninterrupted, as per the sources.  

Meanwhile, Air India, in a statement, said that a specific security alert was detected on flight AI 657 during cruise from Mumbai to Thiruvananthapuram and "the crew carried out all the laid down security drills keeping passenger safety as top priority."

"All passengers and crew disembarked safely. Air India accords top priority to the safety of its passengers and crew," an airline spokesperson said.
 

Meanwhile, the origin of the bomb threat and other information are still awaited.
