World's tallest lighthouse to come up in Gujarat: Mansukh Mandaviya

The entire project will work towards reviving India's ancient maritime culture by building a National Maritime Heritage Complex at the cost of Rs 4,500 crore.

A review meeting was organized at the National Maritime Heritage Complex in Lothal on Monday, in which Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya took stock of the work being carried out and made several announcements regarding the same. In October 2022, the Prime Minister also arrived at the site and reviewed the work in progress.

Post the meeting, Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya stated that the first phase of the project is going to be completed at the beginning of the next year. The Minister also stated that this project will be a combination of history, education, research and entertainment as well. The entire project will work towards reviving India's ancient maritime culture by building a National Maritime Heritage Complex at the cost of Rs 4,500 crore.  

In fact, after the meeting, the plans for these entire projects had also been shared. The project will have at least 14 galleries, along with a naval art gallery highlighting India's Maritime Heritage from the Harappan times to the present day. Apart from this, the world's tallest lighthouse, on 400 acres, is also expected to be a part of the project. Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya informed, "Over 5000 years ago, Lothal was not only a port but also a centre for shipbuilding."
