Gabdhinagar: Ranjit Sagar Dam, in Jamnagar, overflowed after the water level of the dam reached 29 feet amid continuous heavy rainfall in many district of Gajarat, on Thursday.

Visuals of water overflowing over the dam went viral on social media.

Gujarat continues to grapple with heavy rains and a massive flood situation, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a 'red' alert for the state.

According to the weather agency, the deep depression over Saurashtra and Kachchh is expected to intensify in the coming days, which is likely to move towards the northeast Arabian Sea, bringing heavy rainfall across the region.

The death toll in the rain-related incident rose to 28, as per reports. Following the rain fury, several thousands have been evacuated.
