Heavy Rainfall Likely In Kerala In Next 5 Days, IMD Issues Orange Alert
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday issued alerts for widespread rainfall for the next five days in Kerala.
Thiruvananthapuram: It appears as if Kerala is not getting a respite from the wet weather soon as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday issued alerts for widespread rainfall in the state for the next five days. The weather forecast agency predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated areas across Kerala and also issued ‘Orange Alert’ for several districts.
According to the IMD, the cyclonic circulation over Southeast Uttar Pradesh and its neighbourhood persists and is now located at 7.6 km above mean sea level. A trough extends from south interior Karnataka to the Comorin area at 0.9 km above mean sea level. An offshore trough at mean sea level runs along the Maharashtra-Karnataka coasts.
As a result, rain or thundershowers are most likely to occur at most places in Kerala from August 12 to August 14 and at many places on August 10, 11, 15, and 16.
