Order extending winter break in Delhi's school was incorrectly issued, clarifies education department
After the guideline related to the extension of winter break in Delhi's school, the Department of Education of Delhi government issued a clarification that the said order was issued incorrectly. The department stated, “An order extending winter break was incorrectly issued. The order has been withdrawn immediately. A decision on the same will be taken tomorrow morning.”

West Bengal Guv directs DGP to arrest TMC leader Shahjahan Sheikh
West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose on Saturday instructed the Director General of Police (DGP) to arrest TMC leader Shahjahan Sheikh. The governor ordered the state’s police chief based on a complaint received by the peace room of Raj Bhavan.
Sources said that the complainant alleged that Shahjahan Sheikh had crossed over the border and has links with members of terror-outfits.

3 workers injured in cylinder blast at ice factory in Nagpur
Three workers were injured in a cylinder blast at Balaji Ice Factory in the Uppalwadi MIDC area of Nagpur, Maharashtra at around 4.30 pm. During the blast, the wall of the factory collapsed and vehicles parked nearby were damaged. Due to the ammonia gas leakage at the blast site, the residents in the area felt difficulty in breathing. An official said that injured workers were immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.

Major fire breaks out under Modi Mill flyover in Delhi
Delhi Traffic Police on Saturday said that traffic is affected on Mathura road in the carriageway from Ashram Chowk towards Apollo Hospital as a major fire has broken out under Modi Mill Flyover alongside Mathura road.
The Delhi Fire Department later stated, a call regarding a fire in a forest near Modi Mill Flyover, Mathura Road was received. A total of 7 fire tenders rushed to the spot. So far no injuries have been reported.

Additional Director General of Police (ADG) Piyush Mordia briefed media personnel on the police administration’s meeting with Shri Ram Janambhoomi Teerth Kshetra General Secretary Champat Rai regarding the security ahead of January 22.
The police official said, "Ayodhya Police had a meeting with the authorities of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust regarding the upcoming 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony. The motive was to gain the details of the sequence of the events. Police have been deployed and AI CCTV cameras have been installed in the whole district, especially areas around the Ram Temple. Our manpower would be deployed in a way that no one would face any kind of problem."

Several police teams along with bomb disposal squad and dog squad on Saturday inspected the premises of Tirunelveli District Science Center after the centre received a bomb threat via email.

The Trinamool Congress on Saturday said it has an "open heart" for the Congress regarding seat-sharing in West Bengal for the Lok Sabha elections, but it was also prepared to go solo if the talks fail.
Speaking to PTI, TMC's leader in Lok Sabha Sudip Bandopadhyay said what local Congress leaders are thinking about the sharing of seats is immaterial as the final decision will be taken by the top brass of the two parties.
"Our leader Mamata Banerjee has already said that we have an open heart for the Congress. Now, what they will do is up to them. Whether there will be an in West Bengal will be decided by Sonia Gandhi and Mamata Banerjee. What local Congress leaders think is immaterial," he said.

Woman attacked by cousin in UP after she refuses to marry him
A 25-year-old woman was seriously injured when she was allegedly stabbed by her cousin for rejecting his marriage proposal in Banda district of Uttar Pradesh, police said on Saturday.
Gyan Prakash (26), who is the son of the woman's maternal uncle, is on the run, they said.
The woman was staying at her maternal uncle's house in DM Colony under the Kotwali police station area. She and Prakash were studying law in the same college, said Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Lakshmi Niwas Mishra.

BJP MLA booked for slapping on-duty police constable in Pune
An offence has been registered against a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA for allegedly slapping an on-duty police constable in Maharashtra's Pune city, police said on Saturday.
A video of the incident that occurred on Friday surfaced on social media, in which Sunil Kamble, the legislator from Pune Cantonment constituency, hit an on-duty constable at Sassoon General Hospital here.
Based on a complaint lodged by the constable, a case has been registered against Kamble under section 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) of the Indian Penal Code, an official said.

Four die as car hits pedestrians, rams into stationary vehicle in Jaisalmer
Four people died and as many were injured in Jaisalmer when a speeding car hit two pedestrians before colliding with a stationary pickup van, police said on Saturday.
Four people, including the driver, were travelling in the car. Shortly before the accident, one of the occupants of the car had uploaded on his social media account a video of the four consuming alcohol in the vehicle, they said.
The incident took place on Friday night when the car was going towards Barmer from Akal village in Jaisalmer. A police team tried to stop the car at a checkpoint but its driver did not stop, police said.
