Arvind Kejriwal Taken to Tihar Jail Following Court's Order of 14-Day Judicial Custody

India News: A day after Sunita Kejriwal read out her husband's message who is ED's custody, AAP's national convenorand Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is likely to be presented before the Rouse Avenue Court on Monday, April 1. 

In other news, PM Modi will be addressing a ceremony in Mumbai marking 90 years of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in Mumbai today. 

Futher there are multiple plea's which would be heard by the Supreme Court today including Delhi government's plea against non-release of Rs 3,000 crore funds meant for the Delhi Jal Board, DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin's plea against a criminal case lodged in Maharashtra for his alleged remarks on ‘Sanatan Dharma’ and former Chief Minister Hemant Soren's plea against his arrest by ED in a money laundering case.

A sudden storm has wreaked havoc in parts of Jalpaiguri district in northern West Bengal killing 4 people till now. Among the most affected areas were Rajarhat, Barnish, Bakali, Jorpakdi, Madhabdanga and Saptibari.

According to Prison sources, Arvind Kejriwal is to be lodged in Jail Number 2 of Tihar Jail.

• Court to Hear K Kavitha's Bail Plea 

Delhi Court to hear interim bail plea of BRS leader K Kavitha in the money laundering case shortly. She was arrested on March 15 and is presently in judicial custody.

• BJP on Court's Decision to Send Kejriwal Into Judicial Custody 

"Today, the court's decision was based on facts. On the basis of facts, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has been to judicial custody (till April 15). The charges, from which the opposition was trying to defend the accused, are serious charges," said BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi. 

• Sunita Kejriwal Reacts To Court's Decision 

“ED’s investigation has concluded and the court hasn’t called him guilty so why have they kept him in jail? Their aim is only to keep him in jail during the Lok Sabha elections. The people of the country will answer to this dictatorship,” said Sunita Kejriwal following Court's order.

Arvind Kejriwal has been sent to judicial custody till April 15 by the Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been produced before a Delhi court on Monday after his Enforcement Directorate custodial remand ended in the excise policy-linked money laundering case.

He was produced before Special Judge Kaveri Baweja in a jam-packed courtroom.

Arvind Kejriwal's wife Sunita Kejriwal arrived at the Rouse Avenue court along with Atishi and Saurabh Bhardwaj as Kejriwal's custody ends today.

Security heightened outside Delhi's Rouse Avenue court as CM Arvind Kejriwal will be produced before the court today at the end of his ED custody. 

• AIADMK on Katchatheevu Issue 

“It has always been the stance of the AIADMK with regards to Katchatheevu, DMK always has given away the rights of the people of Tamil Nadu. DMK, in collusion with Congress, has always made sure that what is the part of India, should be given away to Sri Lanka... BJP taking this into hand during the election time is just politics,” said AIADMK South Chennai Lok Sabha candidate J Jayavardhan. 

• Leopard Attack in Delhi 

A leopard attacked 3 persons in Jagatpur village, Wazirabad this morning, as per the police. “At 6:14am, we received a phone call at PS Wazirabad saying a leopard had entered near Aadarsh Nagar Gali Number 3, Jagatpur village. The people who were attacked are identified as residents of Jagatpur village,” said the Delhi Police. 

Currently, the Forest Team, Fire Department and local police are deployed at the spot. The leopard has been contained in a room. 

• PM Modi in Mumbai Today 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a ceremony marking 90 years of the Reserve Bank of India in Mumbai today, the central bank said.

The event will also be attended by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das.

• Fire at Clothing Factory in Delhi

A massive fire broke out in a PVC pipe manufacturing factory in Delhi's Prahladpur area but no casualties have been reported so far, officials said on Monday."A call about the fire was received around 8.25 pm on Sunday. Fifteen fire tenders were pressed into service. It took more than four hours to douse the flames," a senior official of the Delhi Fire Service said.
