In a promising declaration, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured that India would be in the league of developed nations by 2047. Underlining India’s remarkable journey towards progress, the Prime Minister asserted that the prevailing societal afflictions, including corruption, casteism, and communalism, will find no place within our nation's collective conscience.

In a much-anticipated interview, Prime Minister Narendra Modi while speaking to news agency Press Trust of India (PTI) asserted that India would be a developed country by 2047 and will secure top spot in terms of world’s leading economies. Prime Minister Modi said, “India will be a developed nation by 2047,” and assured that social evils like “corruption, casteism and communalism will have no place in our national life.”

During his speech on the occasion of Independence Day this year, the Prime Minister had said that by 2047, when India will be celebrating 100 years of independence, it would be a developed nation. "In 2047, when the country will be celebrating 100 years of Independence, India will be a developed country", the Prime Minister noted during his speech from the Red Fort. On the occasion of Independence Day, he had highlighted that with available resources and the power of youth, it is an golden opportunity for the country to realize its dream of becoming a developed nation by 2047.

Underlining India’s economic development, PM Modi said,  “India will be in the top three economies of the world in near future.” The Prime Minister highlighted that the country has a record of jumping five spots in less than a decade. India is currently the fifth largest economy in the world surpassing its former coloniser the United Kingdom. The Prime Minister during his Independence Day speech had highlighted that when he took over the chair in 2014, India ranked 10th in terms of economic might and gradually it has risen the fifth spot. Then, he had thanked the anti-corruption efforts and had promised that with a robust economy, the country would rise to be among the top three.

The interview comes just a few days ahead of the G20 summit going to be held in New Delhi from September 8 to September 10. This interaction with PTI happens to be Prime Minister Modi’s first interview in the last four years. He has addressed major issues during the interaction from global terrorism, cyber attacks to India’s rising stature in the world.
