Karnataka confirmed 1 Covid death and reported 148 new cases, while Bengaluru recorded 545 active cases amid ongoing monitoring efforts.
Bengaluru: In the past 24 hours, Karnataka's Health and Family Welfare Department confirmed one death caused by Covid, along with 148 new positive cases. The deceased, a 45-year-old man from Vijayanagar, was identified as the sole fatality. Over this period, a total of 7305 tests were conducted, indicating a positivity rate of 2.02 percent.
As of Tuesday, Karnataka reported 1144 active cases, maintaining a case fatality rate of 0.67 percent. Among these cases, 55 individuals were admitted to hospitals, while 1089 patients isolated themselves at home. Bengaluru Rural accounted for 28 active cases, whereas Bengaluru Urban recorded 545 active cases on January 2.
Furthermore, there were 199 instances of the JN. 1 variant reported within the last day. To address the rising Covid cases, a cabinet sub-committee was formed by the Karnataka government in December. This committee, headed by Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, includes cabinet ministers Sharan Prakash Patil, HC Mahadevappa, and MC Sudhakar, aimed at overseeing and managing the Covid situation.
Across India, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare reported 4565 active Covid cases as of January 2. This update arrives amid continued efforts by health authorities to monitor and manage the pandemic situation, underlining testing, treatment, and necessary precautions to curb the spread of the virus.
The data reveals a persistent effort in Karnataka to track Covid cases, including the emergence of variant strains.
