Lawrence Bishnoi's Rival Bambiha Gang Members Open Fire at Delhi Businessman's House
Two bike-borne assailants associated with the Bambiha gang fired six to seven rounds into the air outside the businessman’s house in Delhi’s Rani Bagh.
New Delhi: After Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang made inroads into the national capital, its rival, the Bambiha gang, has also marked its presence with a major show of force by opening fire outside a businessman’s residence in Delhi’s Rani Bagh area. On Saturday, two bike-borne assailants associated with the Bambiha gang fired six to seven rounds into the air outside the businessman’s house before fleeing the scene.
Following the shooting, the miscreants left behind a note at the scene with the names of Kaushal Chaudhary and Power Shaukeen, key figures within the Bambiha gang. Police said that no demands for extortion have been received in connection with the incident.
"The crime team inspected the incident site, and a case has been registered under relevant sections. Efforts are presently underway by the authorities to identify and apprehend the culprits," said DCP (Outer Delhi) Sachin Sharma.
“A threat note has been found bearing the name of Kaushal Chaudhary and Bambiha gang,” a police source said. The DCP said the motive behind the shooting is unclear as of now and further investigation is underway.
“During initial investigation, it was found that two men on a motorcycle drove by and one of them fired multiple rounds before they fled from the spot,” the officer said.
Police added that Kaushal Chaudhary, the gang’s current leader, is in Bhondsi jail in Gurgaon and is facing over 40 criminal charges.
Authorities have not received any extortion calls related to the incident. An investigation is underway on the matter.
The police said that the Bambiha gang is a major rival of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Bambiha, who was reportedly involved in an extortion racket in Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula, was killed in a police encounter in 2016.
The rivalry between these gangs has often led to shootouts in Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab. They have fought not only over protection money but also to control the Punjab music industry and kabaddi players.
Recently, Delhi has seen a rise in firing incidents linked to extortion attempts. Earlier last month, three high-profile firing incidents took place in the city: one at a car showroom in Naraina in west Delhi, another at a hotel in southwest Delhi, and the third at a sweet shop. All were connected to extortion activities by gangsters.
