Delhi Mukherjee Nagar fire: 35 girls rescued safely from charred building

A major fire broke out in a girls' PG in Delhi's Mukherjee Nagar area in the evening hours of September 27. As many as 20 fire tenders are at the spot.

A major fire broke out in a girls' PG in Delhi's Mukherjee Nagar area in the evening hours of September 27. More than one dozen fire tenders are at the spot trying to douse the flame at Signature Apartment. Sources say some of the girls living in the building are trapped inside.

The fire services received a call about the incident at around 7:40pm, following which the fire brigade officials rushed to the spot. 
Delhi Fire Services Director Atul Garg confirmed about fire and said that a few girls are trapped inside the building. Delhi SHO and the DCP are also present at the spot, sources said. In the video accessed by Republic, the fire fighters were seen extinguishing the fire, which seems to have started on the ground floor of the building. 

All girls rescued safely

Fire Services Director Atul Garg revealed that the fire has been extinguished and all girls have been rescued safely. As many as 35 girls were present in the building when the fire broke out.

The officer said that the fire started from a meter board installed near the staircase and eventually spread to the upper floors. Pictures taken after extinguishing the fire show the objects completely charred by the flames. Meanwhile, the extent of damage is also yet to be ascertained.
