Ratlam: A major train accident averted in Madhya Pradesh's Ratlam after smoke emerged from the wheel of a DEMU train engine between Pritam Nagar and Runija railway stations on Sunday. The incident occurred in the Ratlam Rail Division when the driver of the train spotted smoke coming out of the wheel. The train was immediately stopped and the passengers from the nearby coaches were evacuated. The incident occurred while the train was on its way from Indore to Ratlam. 

According to the reports, the villagers helped extinguish the fire using water from nearby fields. A major accident was averted, and there were no casualties. Railway administration officials and the rail accident relief team immediately departed for the incident site.

Later, a railway official said that the engine of a Diesel Electrical Multiple Unit (DEMU) train caught fire on Sunday in Madhya Pradesh 's Ratlam district, though no one was hurt in the blaze.

The incident occurred at 5.30 pm between Runija and Naugaon stations when the train was on its way to Ratlam from Dr Ambedkar Nagar (Mhow) station, Western Railway public relations officer Khemraj Meena said.

"No one was hurt in the incident. The fire was controlled soon after. Officials are at the site and a probe into the blaze is underway," Meena added.
