Man Beheads Wife, Cuts-Off Body Parts, Skins Her Body For Not Offering Him Dinner in Karnataka

Tumakuru: A 40-year-old labourer named Shivaram allegedly hacked his 35-year-old wife Pushpalatha to death by beheading her in the wee hours of Tuesday at Huliyurudurga town of Kunigal taluk in Karnataka after she did not offer him dinner on Monday evening. The couple's eight-year-old son was asleep when his father allegedly killed his wife.

The accused, who got arrested, had cut off his wife's head with a machete, cut some of her body parts and kept skinning her body until morning. After committing the heinous crime, the accused informed his landlord about the crime.

Amrithuru police inspector Madya Naik said the woman's body was so severely disfigured that her son couldn't identify his mother.

The accused had got married to the deceased 10 years back after they met at a workplace. However, their relationship reportedly got strained due to frequent fights as the deceased used to speak over the phone with her acquaintance and the accused suspected her of having an extra-marital affair.

Woman Strangled by Husband in Delhi

A 22-year-old woman was strangled allegedly by her husband over a matrimonial dispute on Wednesday in southwest Delhi, police said.

The deceased was identified as Pooja, a resident of Rajokri, they said.

"On Wednesday at 12.38 pm, a PCR call was received regarding a murder at Vasant Kunj South police station following which a team was rushed to the spot," Deputy Commissioner of Police (southwest) Rohit Meena said.

"Prima facie matrimonial dispute seems the reason behind murder. From the initial examination of the dead body, it has been found that the death is due to strangulation," said the DCP.

During the initial enquiry, the police found that Pooja and her husband Abhishek had gotten married a month ago. Both had married for the second time. While Abhishek had no children from his first marriage, Pooja had a son.

Police said that the Forensic Science Laboratory team and crime team have inspected the spot. A case is being registered and multiple teams are working to nab the accused. (with PTI inputs)
