Kerala: A 13-year-old girl from Tamil Nadu, Harini Sri, has won hearts with her initiative to perform Bharatnatyam for three hours straight to raise funds for the victims of the devastating landslides in Wayanad, Kerala.
On Thursday, Harini generously contributed ₹15,000, including her savings, to the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF). Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan met the girl and was shown a video of her Bharatnatyam dance on a phone. The CM showered her with blessings.
The Kerala government's Information Public Relations (IPRD) department posted on X, "A 13-year-old girl from Tamil Nadu, Harini Sri, performed Bharatanatyam for 3 hours straight to raise funds for the Wayanad landslide victims. She donated ₹15,000, including her savings, to CMDRF."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Wayanad in Kerala on August 10 (Saturday) to meet with survivors of last month's devastating landslide. PM Modi will conduct an aerial survey of the landslide-affected areas via helicopter and visit several relief camps where over 10,000 displaced individuals are currently sheltered.
How Can You Help Wayanad?
Several initiatives have been taken by the government and citizens to raise funds and aid the survivors of the disastrous landslides. Recently, thousands in Tamil Nadu's Dindigul engaged in a 'moi virundhu' ceremony (crowdfunding feast) to raise funds for the rehabilitation of victims affected by the landslide. Similarly, many individuals and groups have set up independent camps to aid the victims.
