Karimnagar: In what could be seen as a humble gesture, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, a prominent political figure and newly appointed Minister of State (MoS) for Home Affairs, bowed down on the street and touched the ground after assuming his new role in the government.
Kumar was accorded a rousing welcome when he arrived at Telagnana's Karimnagar from New Delhi on Wednesday noon for the first time after being sworn in as a minister. Known as a firebrand leader, even though Kumar lost the Karimnagar Assembly in the 2019 polls, he won the seat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections by a record margin of 2,25, 509 votes against his Congress opponent.
Karimnagar is central to Kumar's political career, as it is both his home town and the constituency he represents. Kumar, also the National General Secretary, was appointed as the Telangana Chief of the BJP in 2020 and helped the party gain momentum. However, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy was replaced as state party chief in July last year.
