Noida-Greater Noida Traffic Blues: New Expressway Along Yamuna to Ease Congestion | Details Here
Noida-Greater Noida Traffic: Novel expressway along the Yamuna is aimed to function as a bypass for the current Noida Expressway.
Noida: The Noida Authority, in collaboration with RITES, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), and the irrigation department, has recently completed an in-depth study for a novel expressway along the Yamuna. This expressway aimed to function as a bypass for the current Noida Expressway, strategically designed to manage the anticipated population influx due to the growing corporate landscape and the upcoming Noida International Airport, set to begin operations this October. The initial road design is expected to be finalised by January 15th, marking a significant step in the project's development.
A 32km expressway project is underway along the Yamuna Pushta Road, stretching from Sector 94 near the Delhi border at Kalindi Kunj to Sector 150, in close proximity to Greater Noida, with a connectivity link to the Yamuna Expressway. This strategic initiative is specifically designed to address the expected surge in traffic to and from the upcoming Noida International Airport.
Despite the 11-km segment of the Pushta Road being accessible to the public since June 2014, its underutilization persists due to suboptimal conditions. To explore the feasibility of the proposed route, a nine-member committee, led by additional CEO Sanjay Khatri and including officials from NHAI, the irrigation department, and RITES, was formed after a meeting in November last year.
Officials are optimistic that the new expressway will significantly improve connectivity to various residential sectors along the river, such as 128, 135, 150, 151, and 168, as well as Greater Noida. The project aims to address transportation challenges and cater to the growing demand in the region, particularly with the impending operations of the Noida International Airport.
