Nurse On Her Way To Home Raped And Murdered In Uttarakhand, Accused Held

Udham Singh Nagar: A nurse, working at a private hospital in Uttarakhand’s Udham Singh Nagar district, was allegedly raped and murdered by a man, while she was on her way to her home. The Udham Singh Nagar police immediately launched a search operation and nabbed the accused, a daily wage labourer, who was allegedly involved in raping and killing the nurse. Further legal action into the matter is being taken by the police.

According to police officials, the accused has been identified as Dharmendra Kumar, a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly district. Reportedly the incident came to the fore after the body of the nurse was recovered from her village located in Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur district a week ago. The nurse’s body was discovered at an empty plot a week after her brutal sexual assault and murder.

Accused Nabbed From Rajasthan

As per the police sources, Dharmendra Kumar committed the crime on July 30, after intercepting the nurse, who was on her way to her home alone after her duty at the hospital. Meanwhile, the other day, the victim’s sister filed a missing report after the nurse didn’t return home.

A senior police official stated that during the search for the victim, the police found that she had reached her village before she was attacked in Uttar Pradesh. The police received information on August 8, regarding the body of the deceased, which was in the bushes in her village.

The police immediately launched a probe, during which it was found that the victim’s phone was in Rajasthan. Using technical and CCTV evidence, the police found that before the incident the accused was captured following the victim. The accused, who worked as a daily wage labourer in Udham Singh Nagar, was apprehended in Rajasthan.

During the interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime revealing that he was a drug addict. He also disclosed that after sexually and physically attacking the victim, he also took away her belongings. The accused strangled the victim to death.

Further legal action into the matter is being taken.
