Parliament staff will don new attire as they move to the new grand Parliament building next for the special session. The uniforms were designed with an 'Indian' touch as they included headgear for marshals from the northeastern state of Manipur, lotus motif shirts, 'Nehru jackets,' khaki-coloured pants, and new saree designs for women officers.

The officers from five key branches of the Indian Parliament Secretariat will wear the new outfit during the upcoming special session. It includes officers from the reporting, table office, notice office, legislative branch and security branches. Precisely, the chamber attendants, officers, security personnel, drivers and marshals will swap their old outfits with the new ones on cards. The security personnel at the Parliament will be seen in military-style camouflage outfits instead of their traditional safari suits.

Special Parliament Session from September 18

The Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi on August 31 announced the special session of Parliament, scheduled from September 18 to 22, and kept the agenda for it under wraps, fueling speculation. Soon after the commencement of the special session, it will shift to the new building a day later on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.

The new Parliament building was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 28. The session will have five sittings and members will be informed about the provisional calendar separately, the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha secretariats informed.
