New Delhi: In the tragic incident three passengers of the Sasaram Intercity Express were killed after they jumped off the train over rumors of a fire, and were hit by a goods train on the adjacent track near Kumandih railway station in Jharkhand.

The incident occurred around 8 pm at the Kumandih railway station in Dhanbad Division, the Divisional Railway Manager said. "We don't have the confirmed number of deaths but I have come to know that some casualties are there. We are trying to gather more information," he said.

Some of the passengers were injured in the incident around 8 pm at Kumandih railway station in Dhanbad Division, its Divisional Railway Manager said.

"A rumor was spread by some miscreants that a fire had broken out in the train which caused a stampede. Many passengers jumped off the train on the adjacent track. A goods train was coming from the other direction and ran over them. Three were killed.”

Some of them have been injured. 

Authorities are investigating the motive behind the incident.
