Conflicts In Ukraine, West Asia Matter Of Deep Concern: PM Modi In Poland

In a joint statement with Poland PM Donald Tusk, PM Modi said once again reiterated that this is not an era of war adding India supports dialogue and diplomacy.

Warsaw: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday hailed India-Poland friendship and thanked his counterpart Donald Tusk for giving him a warm welcome in the beautiful city of Warsaw. In a joint statement with Poland PM Donald Tusk, PM Modi said, “You have been a friend of India for a long time and you have a huge contribution to enhancing the relationship between India and Poland. Today after 45 years, an Indian Prime Minister has visited Poland. I got this opportunity at the beginning of my third term. I want to thank the government and the people of Poland for this. People of India can never forget the help you have extended in rescuing Indian students during the Ukraine conflict in 2022.”

Speaking about Russia-Ukraine war, PM Modi once again reiterated that this is not an era of war adding India supports a solution to this problem through dialogue and diplomacy.

“In January 2025, Poland will assume the presidency of the European Union. I am confident that your support will strengthen the relations between India and the EU. The ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and West Asia are a matter of deep concern for all of us. India firmly believes that no problem can be solved on the battlefield. The loss of innocent lives in any crisis has become the biggest challenge for the entire humanity,” he said.

"We support dialogue and diplomacy for the early restoration of peace and stability. For this, India is ready to provide all possible cooperation along with its friendly countries. Poland has a very old and rich tradition of Indology and Sanskrit. A strong foundation of our relations has been laid by the deep interest in Indian civilisation and languages. I saw a direct and living example of our deep people-to-people ties yesterday. I had the privilege of paying tribute at the memorial of Maharaja of Kolhapur. I am happy that even today the people of Poland respect his philanthropy and generosity. To immortalize his memory, we are going to start the Jam Saheb Nawanagar Youth Action Program between India and Poland. Every year, 20 young people from Poland will be taken on a visit to India...," the Prime Minister said.

India, Poland believe in humanity, says PM Modi 

“Close cooperation in the field of defence is a symbol of our deep mutual trust. Mutual cooperation in this area will be made a priority. Innovation and talent are the identity of the youth power of both our countries. A Social Security Agreement has been agreed upon between the two sides for the welfare of the skilled workforce and to promote mobility. India and Poland are also moving forward in close coordination on the international platform. We both agree that reforms in the United Nations and international institutions are the need of the hour to face global challenges. Terrorism is a big challenge for us. As countries like India and Poland, which believe in humanity. Climate change is a matter of common priority for us. We will work for a green future by combining our capabilities...,” the Prime Minister added.

"This year, we are celebrating the 70th anniversary of our diplomatic relations. On this occasion, we have decided to convert the relationship into a strategic partnership. Relations between India and Poland are based on shared values ​​like democracy and rule of law. Today, we have identified several initiatives to give a new direction to the relations. As two democratic countries, the exchange of views between our parliaments should be encouraged. Work will be done to connect the private sector to broaden economic cooperation. Poland has world leaders in the field of food processing. We want Polish companies to be associated with the mega food park being built in India. The rapid urbanization in India is opening up new opportunities for our cooperation in areas such as water treatment, solid waste management and urban infrastructure. Clean coal technology, green, hydrogen, renewable energy and Artificial Intelligence are also our common priorities. We invite Polish companies to join Make in India and Make for the World. India has achieved many milestones in areas such as Fintech, Pharma and Space. We will be happy to share our experience with Poland in these areas...," PM Modi said.

Indian Govt very democratic, says Poland PM Donald Tusk  

Earlier, Poland PM Donald Tusk said, “The entire world praises India because India's government is very democratic. We don't see much of this in that part of the world. Once again, I would like to congratulate you on your electoral victory. This is very satisfying. I too know that government is elected in your country as per the mandate of the people...”

“Today, we have decided to take our relations to the level of strategic partnership. This is not just a definition, not mere words. There is our resolution for mutual cooperation in various areas behind this. We began with a clarification on issues that are very emotional. PM Modi confirmed his willingness that he is ready for peaceful, rightful and immediate end to war. We believe that India can play an essential and very constructive role. So, this announcement is very important for us. PM, in 10 hours you will visit Ukraine. We believe that your visit to Ukraine will be historic,” Tusk said.

Poland ready to take part in India's defence modernisation, says Donald Tusk 

"As far as exchanges between India and Poland are concerned, we discussed various topics. We want to strengthen our cooperation in the area of defence and trade. There is immense mutual possibilities. Poland is ready to take part in India's defence modernisation. We have the necessary technological capability and experts... India is a global leader in the field of Artificial Intelligence and we are using this technology in several areas, including defence. We express gratitude to you for inviting our companies to your country. We want investment in the field of defence and that we cooperate with each other," Poland PM said.

"This is a very important day for both of our countries. It is a great honour for us that we are hosting the Prime Minister of India on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the strategic ties between our countries... This is evidence to the fact that this is visit is highly important… Undoubtedly, it is evidence that the relations between our two countries are getting even better. This is essential for the entire region... There is no dispute, no struggle between our countries. We understand each other well, despite our geographical differences, different traditions and histories. But history has taught both our countries to respect principles, borders, regional integrity, sovereignty, law of the land," Donald Tusk said.
