Security Heightened Along LoC After JeM Terror Module Busted in Jammu & Kashmir
BSF troops have been deployed for round-the-clock surveillance, area domination, and patrols. Frisking points and mobile checkpoints have been strengthened across sensitive stretches to foil any possible nefarious attempts by terror groups from across the border.
The security has been intensified along the Line of Control following the recent busting of a Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) module in Jammu and Kashmir and other states. Intelligence inputs have suggested possible infiltration attempts, prompting security agencies to remain on maximum alert.
BSF troops have been deployed for round-the-clock surveillance, area domination, and patrols. Frisking points and mobile checkpoints have been strengthened across sensitive stretches to foil any possible nefarious attempts by terror groups from across the border.
Meanwhile, a massive preventive crackdown aimed at dismantling the local terror support network in Baramulla, Shopian and Anantnag has been launched by Jammu and Kashmir police. This ongoing operation forms part of a strategic effort to choke the ecosystem aiding anti-national elements and preserve the peace of the region.
During these multi-layered operations, the following actions were undertaken:
-16 properties linked with PoK/Pakistan-based Kashmiri natives were searched, resulting in 10 individuals being bound down under preventive provisions.
-23 locations associated with OGWs were raided, leading to 16 OGWs being bound down for aiding unlawful activities.
-6 properties belonging to individuals accused under UAPA (currently on bail) were searched, and 5 OGWs were bound down.
-11 SIM card vendors were inspected to ensure strict compliance with subscriber verification norms and prevent the misuse of telecom services.
-175 vehicles were subjected to intensive checking at strategic nakas (checkpoints) along the National Highway and other vital routes.
-32 Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs) were conducted simultaneously across different parts of the district.
These sustained, layered operations reflect J&K Police's proactive approach to neutralizing support structures that aid terror activities. Each phase of the ongoing campaign is designed to strengthen preventive policing, instill public confidence, and deny operational space to disruptive elements.
Crackdown in Shopian
Similarly, Shopian Police carried out extensive, decisive searches on Monday (November 10, 2025) across multiple locations in the district. This operation targeted the terror network and Pakistan-backed support ecosystem of Muzamil Ayoob, a UK-based terror handler with deep ancestral ties to Shopian.
The action represents a decisive blow to trans-national terror operations. Muzamil Ayoob, a UK resident of Shopian origin, is designated as a key terror handler coordinating with Pakistan's ISI and groups like LeT/TRF. His alleged roles include:
-Radicalization via encrypted apps, fund transfers disguised as remittances, and recruitment of local youth for attacks.
-Operations were zeroed in on his family networks, madrasas, and suspected safe houses in villages like Chatripora and Amshipora (identified hotspots of past encounters).
The extensive searches were aimed at identifying and destroying the local terror ecosystem and curbing any support being extended to terrorist operatives from abroad.
Operation Details:
Multiple sites, including residences, business establishments, and suspected hideouts, were raided.
Digital devices, crucial documents, and financial records were seized for forensic analysis.
While no immediate arrests have been confirmed, several individuals were detained for questioning. The probe is underway under the UAPA and IT Act.
Shopian Police remains committed to neutralizing all elements aiding terrorism and to ensure lasting peace and stability in the region.
Crackdown in Anantnag
In continuation of its intensified efforts to maintain peace and strengthen the security grid across the district, Police in Anantnag today carried out Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs) at various suspected locations.
The operations were part of the ongoing crackdown against anti-national elements and terror associates linked with J&K-based networks (such as JKNOP) and individuals accused under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The objective of these operations was to trace and identify individuals involved in subversive activities, monitor suspicious movements, and ensure public safety and order.
During the exercise, Police teams, in close coordination with security forces, conducted extensive raids at Lal Chowk, Anantnag, targeting the residence of an individual linked to JKNOP, and in the area behind the District Jail, Kheribal. The identities of several persons were verified, and multiple premises were thoroughly searched during the operation.
Police reaffirmed its commitment to continue such operations in a sustained and coordinated manner to eliminate anti-national networks, safeguard public peace, and strengthen the sense of security among the citizens of the district.
About the Inter-state & Transnational Terror Module Bust
In a major Counter Terrorism success, the Jammu and Kashmir Police busted an inter-state and transnational terror module, linked with proscribed terrorist organisations, Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGUH), an official press release.
The operation has led to the arrest of key operatives and recovery of a massive cache of arms, ammunition and explosives, during coordinated searches in J&K and other states, said the release.
"On 19.10.2025, multiple JeM posters were found pasted at different locations in Bunpora Nowgam, Srinagar threatening and intimidating Police and Security Forces. Accordingly, FIR No. 162/2025 U/S 13,16, 17, 18. 18-B, 19, 20, 23, 39 &40 of the UAPA Act, section 61 (2), 147, 148, 152, 351(2) BNS, section 4/5 Explosive Substance Act and 7/25/27 Arms Act was registered, at Police Station Nowgam, Srinagar and investigation taken up," J-K police said in their statement.
The investigation revealed that a white collar terror ecosystem, involving radicalised professionals and students in contact with foreign handlers, is operating from Pakistan and other countries.
The group had been using encrypted channels for indoctrination, coordination, fund movement and logistics. Funds were raised through professional and academic networks, under the guise of social/charitable causes. The accused were found involved in identifying persons, to radicalise, initiate and recruit them to terrorist ranks, besides raising funds, arranging logistics, procurement of arms/ammunition and material for preparing IEDs.
During the course of the investigation, the following accused were arrested: Arif Nisar Dar (Sahil), Yasir-ul-Ashraf, and Maqsood Ahmad Dar (Shahid), all residents of Nowgam, Srinagar; Molvi Irfan Ahmad, Imam of a mosque, resident of Shopian; Zameer Ahmad Ahanger (Mutlasha), resident of Wakura, Ganderbal; Dr. Muzammil Ahmad Ganaie (Musaib), resident of Koil, Pulwama; and Dr. Adeel, resident of Wanpora, Kulgam, said the release.
Additionally, the roles of a few more individuals have surfaced, who will be identified and apprehended. During the ongoing investigation, searches were conducted at multiple locations by the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Srinagar, Anantnag, Ganderbal, and Shopian. Similarly, J&K Police also conducted searches at Faridabad, in tandem with Haryana Police and at Saharanpur, with UP Police.
