Twitterati Have Field Day As Manu Bhaker’s Mother Meets Neeraj Chopra, Say ‘Rishta Pakka’

Manu Bhaker’s mother and Neeraj Chopra’s recent video has gone viral. The Olympic shooter Manu Bhaker's mother Sumedha Bhaker can be seen engaging in a conversation with javelin star Neeraj Chopra, and it has since garnered over half a million views on X (formerly Twitter).

Manu Bhaker made history at the Paris Olympics by becoming the first Indian to win two medals in a single edition of the Games, clinching bronze in the women's 10m air pistol and in the 10m air pistol mixed team event alongside Sarabjot Singh. Neeraj Chopra, who won a silver medal in men’s javelin, added to his illustrious career after securing gold in Tokyo four years ago.

While Manu Bhaker was initially slated to be accompanied by Neeraj Chopra at the closing ceremony, the Indian Olympic Association opted for PR Sreejesh in that role. However, the interaction between Chopra and the Bhaker family is amusing social media to no end.

In the viral video, Sumedha Bhaker is seen holding Chopra’s hand while they chat enthusiastically. This clip has led to a flood of humorous comments and speculation on social media, with many playfully suggesting that Sumedha Bhaker might be considering Chopra as a potential match for her daughter.

One X user wrote, “Shaadi ke rishte ki baat chal rahi hai,” translating to “Marriage proposals are being discussed.” Another commented, “Indian mom talking to successful boy about her daughter's marriage.” The playful banter continued with remarks such as “Mummy ji on mission for damadji” (Mother on a mission for a son-in-law) and calls for “Aunty ji, make it happen.”

Both athletes hail from Haryana, which added a local flavor to the viral video of their interaction. Another clip of the two discussing the Games has also surpassed a million views on X, further fueling the online excitement.

One user said, “If a boy and a girl talk to each other nicely, people start assuming things in India.” Another added, “Indians are born Bollywood storywriters!”
