Boosting Indo-US ties, US Ambassador for India Kenneth Juster, on Wednesday, has expressed his delight at being the Chief Guest at the Seventh Tawang Festival, held in Arunachal Pradesh. Juster also shared photos with Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu and Union Minister for Sports Kiren Rijiju. His tweet was shared by the US Department of South and Central Asian Affairs (SCA) highlighting the US support to Indian sovereignty and its projects in the state of Arunachal Pradesh.

Reports state that the 4-day festival was inaugurated on 28 October by Juster along with the US Consul General in Kolkata, Patti Hoffman, Khandu and Rijiju. Juster on his arrival in Tawang reportedly visited the historic Tawang Monastery and the War memorial with Hoffman, Khandu and other dignitaries. The dignitaries had then attended the Street Carnival show at Old Market of Tawang on Tuesday.
What is the Tawang Festival?
According to the official website, the festival is organised by the Tourism Department of Arunachal Pradesh to promote tourist attractions and traditional values of Tawang. Started in 2012, the festival has become a global event attracting dignitaries all over the world. The festival includes a variety of programmes such as religious functions of Buddhist monks, traditional monastic dances, tribal dances, folk dances, music shows, adventurous games, traditional sports, exhibitions, film shows, flower shows, food festivals, etc.
