'Will Work For Tamil Nadu': Actor Vijay Launches Flag, Symbol for his Party

Chennai: Actor-turned-politician Vijay unveiled the flag and symbol for his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam in an event in Chennai on Thursday. This event follows the launch of his Party in February earlier this year.

Before revealing the party's flag, Vijay delivered a pledge affirming his commitment to equality. He expressed dedication to honoring those who fought for India's freedom and to striving for equal opportunities across caste, religion, gender, and place of birth. His pledge emphasized the importance of creating awareness and advocating for equal rights for all living beings.

"We will always appreciate the fighters who fought and sacrificed their life for the liberation of our country and countless soldiers who fought tirelessly for the rights of our people from Tamil soil...I will remove the differences in the name of caste, religion, gender, place of birth, create awareness among the people and strive for equal opportunities and equal rights for all. I solemnly affirm that I will uphold the principle of equality for all living beings," reads the pledge.

In a press statement released on Wednesday in Tamil, Vijay described August 22, 2024, as a significant day, referring to it as a blessing from God and nature. He highlighted this date as the moment when the flag, a key symbol of Tamil Nadu Victory Club, would be introduced.

Vijay's foray into politics marks another notable entry into Tamil Nadu’s political arena.
