Viral video: Internet asks for a new recruit in Indian Railways as heroic dog sparks enthusiasm
A viral video captures a stray dog's interesting interaction with footboard passengers, prompting netizens to suggest a new role for the canine in Indian Railwa
In a video that has taken social media by storm, a stray dog is seen energetically running alongside a moving train, barking at passengers standing on the footboard. Ananth Rupanagudi, an officer from the Indian Railway Accounts Service (IRAS), shared the footage on X (formerly Twitter) with a noteworthy comment, "The best assistance rendered in a drive against footboard traveling."
Due to the prevalent issue of overcrowding, many individuals in India resort to traveling on the footboard of trains, putting their lives at risk. The video, posted a few days ago, has garnered over 1.56 lakh views and numerous comments. Interestingly, netizens are now advocating for the Indian Railways to consider employing the stray dog to deter people from engaging in this unsafe practice.
"Is this for REAL!! Initially thought the dog was looking for a space in the compartment," one user commented. Another person suggested, "RPF could consider engaging one of their duty dogs. Imagine a Doberman or a Belgian Malinois doing this." Expressing concern about the situation at Mumbai stations, a user proposed, "Can we get him and some like-minded friends of his at Mumbai stations? So many people are getting off or climbing running trains." Reflecting on international practices, another user remarked, "Seriously, he should be given an appointment in Railways. Many western countries have done so in their orgs. Let this be 1st in India."
