Festive elegance: 5 ways to drape tissue sarees
While the traditional Nivi drape is always a classic choice, there are several other creative ways to drape a tissue saree.
The festive season is the perfect time to showcase your style and grace in a tissue saree. While the traditional Nivi drape is always a classic choice, there are several other creative ways to drape a tissue saree that can infuse a unique and stunning appeal to your festive ensemble. From Mermaid drape to Mumtaz-inspired drape, take a look at five different ways to drape a tissue saree.
The Bengali drape
The Bengali drape is known for its distinctive, box-pleated pallu that starts from the right waist and goes over the left shoulder. This drape pairs beautifully with tissue sarees. Accessorise with a traditional Bengali jewellery set and opt for a bold, red lip to complete the look. For Navratri celebrations, Rani Mukerji opted for a white tissue saree with an intricate golden border. She styled it with a red blouse.
The Gujarati drape
The Gujarati drape is all about pleats, and it's a fine choice for tissue sarees with heavy borders or intricate work. Begin by making pleats and securing them at the back. Bring the pallu from the back to the front over the right shoulder, allowing the end to hang freely. This style is ideal for showcasing the borders of the saree.
The Butterfly drape
The butterfly drape creates a butterfly-wing effect with the pallu. After making pleats, fan out the pallu over the left shoulder. This drape is particularly suitable for sarees with vibrant colors and intricate detailing.
Malaika Arora elevated her fashion game with a golden tissue saree, accessorising her look with antique earrings and bangles.
The Mermaid drape
The mermaid drape is a fusion of the traditional Nivi drape and the lehenga style. Start by making pleats and tucking them in the front, then allow the pallu to fall over the left shoulder. This style provides a modern and chic look that makes it perfect for contemporary tissue sarees.
Karisma Kapoor elegantly draped her silver-copper tissue saree adorned with embellished laces and a silver blouse by Manish Malhotra. Her makeup and floral accessory accentuated her look. She completed her look with a potli bag.
The Mumtaz drape
Inspired by the legendary Bollywood icon Mumtaz, this drape is characterized by high, bold pleats that run diagonally across the chest. The pallu is left hanging in a free flow. Accessorise with statement jewellery to complete the retro look.
Janhvi Kapoor blended two dominant fashion trends - pastel hues and tissue fabric. She sported a golden tissue saree. Her Manish Malhotra outfit featuring an antique gold zari border, was paired with an embellished golden blouse.
