Miss Universe China representative Qi Jia withdraws from pageant, here's why
Miss Universe China Qi Jia will not be competing at the coveted pageant, currently underway in El Salvador. The reason is an involuntary turn of events.
The 72nd edition of Miss Universe, dubbed Miss Universe 2023, is currently underway. The coveted pageant is being hosted at El Salvador’s José Adolfo Pineda Arena. While initially there were 90 contestants from the participating countries set to compete for the much hallowed title, there will be one less beauty queen in the lineup. This is none other than Miss Universe China, Qi Jia.

Miss Universe China withdraws from the Miss Universe pageant
Miss Universe China Qi Jia's impromptu withdrawal from the Miss Universe pageant does not come as a voluntary decision. In an official statement released by Miss Universe China's Instagram handle, the public was informed that Qi Jia has been deemed ineligible to compete at the currently ongoing edition of the competition. This comes as a direct result of her visa for El Salvador being granted late. As a result, Qi Jia was unable to make it to El Salvador on time missing a week worth of activities and by-competitions. The note ended with an intimation that the pageant winner will still be hard at work, proving her worth.
The official statement read, "he Miss Universe competition areas will be held from November 15 to the 18. The organizing committee and the champion Ms. Jia Qi applied for visa procedures as soon her crowning was announced, and actively prepared for the global finals, however due to late issuance she flew to El Salvador as soon her visa was granted missing more than a week of activities making her impossible to compete at this year’s international event. The 2023 Miss Universe China will represent our homeland at the Miss Universe 2024 competition next year! She will continue her full training to demonstrate what she is capable of. We thank the fans for all the support she has received worldwide!"
