Ramadan 2025: Indulge In Sheer Khurma For A Flavourful And Nourishing Suhoor Experience
This traditional delicacy is not only rich in flavour but also a nourishing treat to enjoy during Suhoor or Iftar.

Ramadan 2025 begins on February 28 and will continue until March 30. During this holy month, devotees observe day-long fasts, refraining from both food and water from dawn to dusk.
As we prepare to welcome Ramadan, also known as Ramzan, keep this Sheer Khurma recipe handy.
This traditional delicacy by celebrity chef Kunal Kapur is not only rich in flavour but also a nourishing treat to enjoy during Suhoor or Iftar.
Ingredients to make Sheer Khurma
- 3 tsp Desi Ghee
- 1 tsp Chironji
- 1 tsp Pista (chopped)
- 1 tsp Walnut (chopped)
- 1 tsp Almond (chopped)
- 5-7 nos Dates or Chuara
- 1 lt Milk (full fat)
- A pinch of Saffron (optional)
- ½ tsp Cardamom powder
- ½ cup (approx) Sugar
- handful/40gms Semiyan (wheat vermicelli)
Directions to cook Sheer Khurma
- In a pan add 1½ tbsp of Ghee, followed by a sprinkle of Chironji, Pista, Almond, Walnuts and Dates and stir quickly while pouring milk.
- Add Saffron, Cardamom Powder and Sugar.
- Cook the milk till it reduces to half. Keep stirring.
- In a separate pan heat the remaining Ghee, add broken Semiyan and cook until you get a lightly brown colour.
- Pour in the reduced milk over Semiyan and cook for another 8-10 minutes.
- Remove from heat and serve hot or cold.
