Shaving, without a doubt, is the most painless and the quickest way to get rid of unwanted hair. A simple razor can do a lot in getting soft and smooth skin. But while the process of shaving is so comforting, it is not risk-free. When it comes to shaving, there are many tips on how you should and should not shave. Here are shaving hacks to keep in mind to make it an experience that is comfortable and efficient.
Shaving tips to keep in mind
Replace your cartridges
Many women are unaware of the fact that razor blades have a shelf-life of their own. It is suggested that you should change your razor blade after every three-four times of usage, by the General Rule of Thumb. An over-used razor blade comes with an increased chance of getting cut. An easy way of telling if it is time to change the razor blade is by checking the indicator strip. If the indicator strip is faded, then it is high time to change the blade.
Substitute shaving gel with hair conditioner when needed
When in lack of time or having a money-crunch, replace your shaving gel/cream with hair conditioner. Hair conditioner makes a good quick-fix in cases like these. Avoid usable of soap because soap foams contain more air than water that reduces the moisture content required.
Keep your razors capped
There’s a reason why razors come with a plastic covering. When the razor is not in use, always make sure to cap it with protective plastic. Doing so prevents the dirt and dust from accumulating on the razor blade. Following this allows a smooth and easy shave.
Store your razors outside the bathroom
A lot of women tend to leave the razors on some shelf in the bathroom itself after done with shaving. This can cause the razor blades to rust, thus, rendering the blades ineffective much faster than usual. This happens because of the steam and heat in the bathroom. Keeping the razors outside of the bathroom, in a dry place, prevents the rusting and prolongs the life of the blades.
Moisturise
You should never take your skin for granted. Whether or not you have sensitive skin, it is always advised to apply a moisture-rich moisturiser after your shave is done. A cooling moisturiser with aloe vera is a nice go-to option. Since shaving peels off a layer of dead skin, moisturising after it prevents post-shave skin irritation and red bumps.
