‘Big example for players’: New Manchester United Star Lauds Cristiano Ronaldo in His Debut Interview
New Man United star hails Cristiano Ronaldo as a big example for players in his debut interview, acknowledging Ronaldo's influence and leadership.
Cristiano Ronaldo is perhaps the best Manchester United player of all time. He rocked the football world under Sir Alex Ferguson and contributed significantly to the team's victory. His comeback in 2021 had a significant influence on the club after he saved them from humiliation multiple times in 2021. Even though his second stint with the team was cut short due to managerial changes after Erik Ten Hag came, Ronaldo's remarkable history with the Red Devils remains intact, and it continues to resonate with fans and upcoming players worldwide.
New Manchester United star Matthijs de Ligt talks about the legend Cristiano Ronaldo
Matthijs de Ligt revealed respect for Cristiano Ronaldo in his first interview as a Manchester United player on Thursday, August 15. Along with Noussair Mazraoui, the Dutch defender joined the Red Devils from Bayern Munich in an attempt to improve their defensive lineup before the forthcoming Premier League season.
After 18-year-old Leny Yoro from Lille signed, de Ligt became the second centre-back to join Manchester United this summer. According to reports, de Ligt paid originally €45 million for his transfer price plus another €5 million in possible add-ons.
On the other hand, the team paid allegedly £17.2 million for Noussair Mazraoui. Monday saw both players finish their medical tests; they must be registered by August 15 in order to be eligible for Manchester United's opening Premier League game against Fulham at Old Trafford.
It is important to note that Manchester United did not have a great start to the season. They lost the FA Community Shield to Manchester City and will now aim for a better start to the Premier League. Speaking in his first interview for the Reds, Matthijs De Ligt said:
“From everyone, you learn something. Cristiano [Ronaldo], obviously, has been here and made a big, big history here. He takes care of his body like a temple. The way he eats, the way he sleeps, it was such a big example for young players like me.”
Celebrated at Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo boasts an amazing record of 145 goals and 64 assists in 346 appearances for the team.
